The goal of the study was to get better under-standing of the relationship between periodontopathogens and polymorphonuclear leukocytes, the two key players in the pathogenesis of periodontal diseases. The study was carried out in year 1993-1997 in Department of Periodontology, Institute of Dentistry, University of Helsinki.
